My rooster is young and needs to work on his technique, but for now half my hens have a bald spot just about their tail. They seemed to to ok otherwise. Now summer is coming and I'm in Florida and they appear to be getting sunburn. Other than saddles, what can I do to help them until they molt? I've thought about applying aloe since I have plenty of the plants but idk if it will work for them too? Does anybody have some advice for me? Yes I have seen wounds from his spurs once but hasn't become a thing the has done again

Hiya, and welcome to BYC! :frow

When I get hens that start looking like that, I take them or the rooster way, and try to up their protein a little. Ours are already on Kalmbach's Flock Maker so that's 20% and to only up it a little, I'll feed them some scrambled eggs every other day.

Putting a little aloe on them may help the burn.

Get a look at your rooster, at night if you can't catch him during the day, and see if his spurs are sharp. If so, you can file them smooth. That would help a little bit.
