I have a rooster who is EXTRA people friendly. He is so sweet and loves car rides, being on the hammock, going on walks, being on my shoulder, hugs, and kisses, ext. He's always been so sweet with me. Well he isn't exactly that way with chickens. He targets our two ten year olds (who don't even lay eggs) so he has been voted of the island for lack of better terms. Sooo I have to get him a coop and a chicken run all to himself. The problem is I don't want him to be all by himself. Bellow I will post my question and I would like your best chicken loving thoughts.

Choice 5 explained: my mother and I share chickens but technically only the 6 lavender orpingtons are mine. Four are girls and Two are boys. The other boy and the girls get along well with all of the other chickens in the yard and I worry if I give him his sisters now I will be unable to integrate both roosters together when I move away (I am a legal adult, it's simply cheaper to live at home.)

How about move the two old gals out? They don't need the attention of any rooster and are not laying. If you have a way to separate birds, I think I would pull those two. They would have each other, and frankly at that age, they need some space from the younger birds.

If you split the roosters up, you dramatically increase the odds of them not getting along if you try and put them back together. However, be aware that just because the are getting along NOW, does not guarantee they will be tomorrow or next week.

@Mrs K moving Combs and Connie out of the yard would not be in their best intrests. We get lots of predators around here and they only trust our oldest rooster (and even then some). They are the queens of the yard and I can't remove them. By nw Zep has been away from the current flock for so long tthere would be a rooster battle if we were just to put him back

Oh, I did not catch on that you had removed the extra rooster. I was trying to set things up so to cause the least disruption, and I would think with birds that old, the end was near.

Personally, I would let the other rooster go live somewhere else. People often are looking for a nice rooster. I really do not think any of your other suggestions are good solutions. Except maybe giving him 4 hens of his own. But then you need a completely separate set up, and have to alternate ranging times, and often times, if you are the least bit short of space, can have some spectacular fights.

A lot depends on your set up. I would let him go.
