You would have to change the zoning laws. I think you may have to sell or give them away until the law changes.

If you knew they were illegal in your community, but went ahead anyway, the consequences may include fines. I suggest your re-home the birds. Your neighbors are within their rights.

It's too bad so many municipalities have such stringent rules regarding backyard fowl. I would rather hear a rooster crowing in the morning than the neighbors two Beagles that are constantly howling, but they are allowed. The crows and hawks up here make more noise than our chickens, as well as the constant chain saws blaring after 8 in the morning. My neighbors are okay with the birds we have, just got lucky, I guess. We are one over the limit...if anyone asks, she is the sister-in-law of Pojo the hen and just came by for a visit. I feel for you. Where are you located? There is a website that lists fowl limitations in certain cities regarding lot size, location, etc.

I'm not familiar with Canadian laws....difficult enough dealing with them here in the states. Love your country, by the way. Really enjoy B.C. and want to visit Nelson someday. Good luck with your birds. Perhaps a friend who can keep them will step forward. We used to live in San Jose, CA, and our neighbors to our south got a rooster. Thing would crow all the time...but someone dropped an egg and the rooster was removed. Our neighbors to our east, a foot from our shared fence, had FOUR chickens in a two foot by four foot coop, we would hear them during an egg lay, but it never bothered us. I think they still have them. Don't know if the new owners of the property complained, since it was probably illegal in a suburb.
