What should I do with a little sparrow fledgling?

I found a little sparrow fledgling while trimming hedges, and I looked all around for its nest, but I could not find it. It seemed lost, and I nearly cut it to pieces, but I saw it in time. I brought it home, but I don't know how to raise it. I have a little house for it, but I need to figure out how to make it survive the night, I know it needs warmth to survive. Do you think one of our chickens would raise it as a chick? It ate some worms I gave it and is very amiable.

You should return it to where you found it. The mother may be looking around to feed it. Since you don't know how to care for it, likely a mistake to pick it up in the first place.
This time of year, fledglings tumble out of nests all over the northern hemisphere around the globe. Probably numbering in the billions.
