what should I do?

Hello guys, i was just looking at my coturnix quail and i saw that some of the hens have little bald spots on there head, I have 2 roos and 8 hens in a 4 foot long and 3 foot wide run with a 2 foot by 2 foot house. are they over breeding? should i move a roo. into a seperate pen? or should i just leave them? there about 7 weeks old now. if you need pocs. of there enlcosure ill take some. Thanks

I had basically the same set up and last week one of my roosters scalped the other rooster. I know have them separated each with 4 hens... they seem happier. You might consider doing that.

For such cute little animals, quail are very vicious. I have two roos that are finally getting feathers back on the top of their heads. I had to move them to seperate cages. The scalper is on probation now. If he hurts one of his hens he will be sent to join the mashed potatoes.

I'd suggest seperating them up evenly. They're only evil in breeding season otherwise they're nice little birds lol
