What should I do???

If thats the case...... then its easy to fix. If you have any tylan 200. Use it orally as a eye drop into the eye and less then two days it should be fine. Make sure you clean the eye first so that it dose not close. then get the tylan.

They've probably picked up some sort of URI. I asked my vet about my chickens. He admits he's no expert, but he's treated a lot of chickens over the years. Usually, it's the whole flock that gets treated - not many people have just one chicken for a pet. I gave mine Terramyacin, but it didn't help any. Vet told me it was most likely a virus, and they will either recover or not. All he could recommend was to treat the symptoms. You can use antibiotics in their eyes, as mentioned earlier. It's good supportive therapy and will prevent or treat secondary bacterial infection. Make sure they are kept as warm as possible and get a high protein, high fibre diet. It may help to give them warm water to drink as much as possible. It tends to help them keep warmer. (Mine became ill during warm weather, so that was not an issue - but I give them warm water to drink a couple of times a day.) And - gross as it may sound, I made mine chicken soup (yeah, I know, I'm crazy). I had veggies in it, and they loved it. I think it did the same thing for them that it does for us. It just makes us all feel a little better...

It may take a while for them to recover - if they recover. In all honesty, you'll likely lose some. Depending on what virus it is, your birds may become carriers. Or, the virus could go dormant - and the symptoms recur if they are stressed - like during a molt. Out of 30 pullets, I lost six - but the rest are doing fine now, and just beginning to lay.

Okay, so I finally bought some Tylan 200 and started putting a drop a day in my young hen's eye. I have been doing this for 3 days. So far, there is no improvement and now I have noticed something new developing. Sometimes she will open her beak and a clear liquid will drain out. Is this serious? What should I do about it?
