What should I do????? :/

I bought some chickens at market on Friday (love the markets here!). I got a Silver Leghorn, 2 Brown Leghorns, 1 Blue Bell, 1 RIR and 1 X breed (some kind of Rock, forgot what the guy said). I did some research into the Leghorns and I think I'd like to breed the Silver ones apparently they are one of the rarer Leghorn types. I just like her, 'cause she's so pretty! Just need to find a roo and wait for madam to start laying now

I saw some other Leghorn types that are lovely too, so maybe in future I'll breed them as well. If I can get good breeding stock.

Sounds great! It sucks that here you hardly find any specific breeds of chicken! Most people only have some farm mixes (which look great but I like all the different breeds that you can get) so I'm very exited about getting some silkies!

I wanted Silkies in SA, but I couldn't find any for sale. And RIR until I saw the price!

I'm thrilled about the breeds available here. Now I just need a nice big property to put them all...

I think it was around R40 per chick. Day-old chick. Unsexed. POL hens up to R500 for 1 hen. No way I'm paying that for a chicken! BO chicks were about R30 a chick, but a friend of mine bought some for R8/chick recently. Much better!

Wow. 500 dollars that's crazy! The person I"ll probably get the silkies from sells them for R60 each! I don't know if they'r POL but they are fully grown! The first silkie I ever saw here at a petshop was sold for only R30! Do you think that R60 is a good price?

500 rand, not dollar. But yes, it's crazy. I paid R60 per hen for my POL pullets. It's a good price. With chicken food being so expensive there now... It's costing R40-R50 per chicken to raise them to maturity.
