what should i get..?

Well my sister ruined my plan of "not telling my mom guineas are loud' plan so, I want to get

A) Pheasent

B) Chukar
or

C) Partridge (its not the same thing as a pheaseant right??? LOL!!!)

what should i get? what are their pros and cons? i really want to get something 'exotic' so these are my last choices

Not to get anyone's feathers ruffled, but problems begin with these words: "i really want to get something 'exotic'", in all animals. Do much more research than just posting on the forum. There are nearly 50 species of pheasants, each with their own set pros and cons. Chukars are easy beginner birds, but please, please, please do more research before diving into them. Same with any non-domestic animal.

The more you can learn about a species, the better you can provide for that species.

i have been looking up info, and what i meant by the 'exotic' is not chicken. I know pheasents are expensive but with out set up they seem the best choice, but the Chukar our feed store sells and they do seem like a good beginner bird but they seem to small, never seen the chicks though and they might be bigger then what i think, havent looked up how big they are

oh and i havent looked up partridge but i as gonna but i mainly looked at pheasant and chukar

i also forgot to post, i know they need a high protein food but we would house them with chickens so is it ok if the chickens eat the chukar/pheasant food? Or could I just put oyster shell in their food? I know chickens can eat oyster shell so I was wondering if the Chukar/pheasant could just eat chicken food with oyster shell.

I'm sure you will get some more replies as to why you should not house any type game bird with domestic fowl (chickens, ducks, etc) but just to make it simple. Domestic birds are all carriers of poultry diseases that are fatal to game birds. Not only should they not be housed in the same pens, the game birds should not have any contact with any thing associated with chickens, including areas where chickens have formally been housed, eating and drinking equipment. The bottom line is that if you do put them together you quail, partridge, pheasant raising days will be numbered. All game birds, pheasants in particular are fun to raise and can become profitable, but it would sure be in your best interest to become quit familar with what is required for them before you start. I wanted guineas but 'their too loud' and same for peacocks. OK turn this into a "reasons why i cant get game birds thread" LOL

No, not exactly a reason you can't raise pheasants, chukars or quail. All you would need is an additional pen. Pheasants don't require as much shelter as chickens. Just a simple wire pen large enough for the number of birds you want to keep. A sheet of plywood set on several cinder blocks is about it. They are native to the mountains of China and Tibet and can stand a cold climate. As cold as Alaska, I don't know if you get down to -50. I don't worry about the cold here in Arizona, only the summer heat. You will have to get some info from these guys up north for that, but I imagine you would be good to at least about 20 above with a little shelter. Any way it just depends on how bad you want the birds.

LOL i cant have them cause I dont know if my dad is willing to build another pen, they want them to house together

and they need a coop for the winter, i think, but in the news paper our ring necked pheasants are still in creamers feild, i didnt know we had pheasants in the first place... This year in january it got to -50 but it is really warm outside now and is like 20 above!!
