So, here's my dilemma: I want four hens, but it looks like I ended up with three hens and five roos. If that is the case, I want one more bird. Now, should I get a Polish, or a Maran? I've pretty much settled on one of the two. My other birds are two EEs in a nice golden brown color, and a silver laced Wyandotte.
I like the polish for it's looks, not gonna lie. But the Maran is attractive because it will give me yet another cool egg color. I have a young son, so it would be better if the bird wasn't aggressive.
Any opinions?

Do your birds free range? If so, I would recommend a Maran. Polish tend to be less of a free ranging bird (generally speaking) and they lay smaller eggs and most likely less of them. They do tend to be really friendly birds though, which would be good for your son!

my birds are in a coop/run setup, so I don't really have to worry about the free-range aspect. Though if the Marans don't like to be shut up... I do like the idea of getting more eggs though.

So two for Marans so far? They'd be easier for me to get as well, same place I got my EEs has them.
