I am lucky to have a neighbour with chickens as well that has helped us in the past with week long trips. She was 19 at the time so we made everything as easy as we could.
Having communication thro email sure helps if something comes up or goes wrong.
Power outages are #1 problem in our area....it was Nov 20th when we left so heat was key......as well as giving them treats and playthings as they were indoors the whole time. Make sure your coop can handle cold weather just in case.
I have 2 sets of watering cans so cleanups and refilling is easy.
It sucks to be outside with wet hands in a blizzard..LOL
Now this year we have 5 chickens, 2 dogs and 2 cats.
Question for ppl who do house sit...how much do you charge..I might have to pay her more cause of the 2 dogs....2 hyper playful BIG dogs....lol
