Hello all,

Just wondering if you can help me figure out how much feed I need to buy. I'm planning on using the Purina SunFresh Start & Grow unmedicated feed and am expecting 3 to 4 chicks (they're throwing in an extra when they ship them). It says that I can use this feed from the time I receive the chicks until the point of lay (correct?).

So, what size bag should I order from my feed store? At first I thought 25# would do it, but since it can be used until point of lay, I'm wondering if I need a 50# bag. Any ideas???

Thanks in advance!

50 lb...maybe twice. I am on my 8th bag for 36 and they are only 11 weeks old. I estimate I will use 16 bags before they get to the point of lay. You've got 1/10 the chicks that I have so, 1.6 bags estimated use.

It will take a long time for 3-4 chicks to go through a 50# bag of feed. Buy the smaller bags so the food doesn't go bad before they eat it all.
