What size hardware cloth for coop?

We have snakes. BIG snakes 7-8 footers.. and snake eggs so there's little snakes to.

I don't want to use tiny hardware cloth but I need to keep snakes out to.

What size should I use?

1/2" by 1/2' is what I use. Any snake that can slither through a hole that small is likely to be eaten by a chicken, rather than the other way around.
