What size of roosting bar

I have been looking through post about roosting bars. I'm trying to figure out if they like larger vs. smaller in diameter. Do they like something they can stand on or curl their feet around? Thanks

My birds have always seemed pretty comfortable on these.. .

I keep large breed birds and I use either 2"x4"s with the 4 side up or rounded fence posts that are 4"x4". If you are keeping bantams, then you can use 2 " roost bars.

Thanks for the ideas! Sounds like something round and biggish will do best.
