What snacks DON'T or chickens like???

There is a store nearby who will give me beef bones for free. I almost always have broth on my stove with the bones, water and ACV (ACV helps to draw the nutrients out of the bone). I boil it, then let it simmer for 24-48 hours. I then let it cool, and it is becomes gelantinous. The birds enjoy it, along with any scraps that have boiled off the bones. If the bones are small enough and get soft during boiling, the gobble those up too. I figure there is a lot of gelatin and calcium in there, maybe a little protein leftover too. I have also added grains and let it soak overnight for added fun for those birds:)

My girls love carrots too, but only the shredded kind. They will nibble at carrot wafers but soon lose interest. When I gave them whole tomatoes, they looked at them like they were something alien. But cut them into wedges and it is a feeding frenzy. Haven't found much they don't like.

Did I see someone post that there is a thread or a list of no-no foods somewhere, or am I imagining things again????

My chickens have developed a sweet tooth from getting strawberries, apples and other fruit. Now they won't eat any vegetavbles or hardly anything besides fruit, melaworms, and oatmeal

My girls hate lettuce. They look at it and give me this look like "Really? That's the best you can do?" It takes them a minute to get into any fruit or veggie but if they see meat of any kind (or their meal worms) you better count your fingers once your done giving it to them. They go crazy for it! They won't touch carrots and strawberries. I guess every flock has its own taste buds. They do think as a flock if one goes for something (or doesn't!) the rest follow... chickens...

I've found it depends upon the weather (amongst other things) - in September / October it was still really warm, and my girls picked their way around every grain of dried sweetcorn on the ground, so I gave up dishing it out. (Tinned sweetcorn is something else altogether - the chicken equivalent of crack cocaine judging by the way they fight over it!) However, now that it's become colder, a couple of handfuls of dried corn disappears most days. The same with swiss chard (the multi coloured variety) - totally ignored a few weeks ago, but now they will strip a whole bunch of leaves in about 10 minutes - Seeing them attack the hanging bunch makes me wonder if there's a bit of pirahna bred into them somewhere!!

Still, there are very consistent things : any type of meat, all cheese (especially soft cheese like camembert) and the aforementioned tinned sweetcorn are all guaranteed to get their attention and lose me a finger if I'm not careful, whilst bananas and red peppers are either completely ignored or carefully picked out of the bowl and thrown to one side! Tomatoes are usually but not always well received, whilst apples are considered very mediocre, and only to be sampled if there's really nothing else available!

Ours won't eat Asian Lady Beetles. We get swarms every October, but they aren't interested. (Wishful thinking.) But they LOVE mealworms, melon, pumpkin, yogurt, oatmeal, lettuce. I was really surprised by one who stole hot pepper bits out of the compost bin. Guess she likes it spicy?

Lady bugs are toxic. It's a good thing they don't eat them. My chameleon has gotten a few and he feels like crap after.
