What sort of duck and how old

Hi ....
I woke to find a new friend in my backyard this morning
Can anyone tell me what sort of duck it is and roughly how old?
It is very timid and stays few metres away when i go near him/her but when I was filling a wading pool with water for it, it did come up and drink but was very cautious. It's been in my yard all day and looks like he is settling in

That looks like a pekin. They are usually very friendly. It looks full grown. Not sure on age.

I see caruncles on the bill and that body shape/stature is not Pekin.

Would it be safe roaming my yard or should i be concerned if a cat enter the yard at night? also what is a good way to gain her trust? she still keeps her distance.
Ive been feeding her grapes,cucumber and broccoli so far

A cat can definitely be a danger.
As far as trust, time and treats. Try thawing some frozen peas for her. My ducks love them. Even the more skidish duck will eat out of my hand. Sounds like you are getting attached. Ducks are great pets.

Thanks but my friend flew off this morning but was on my neighbours front lawn when i got home from work ...
Ill leave the kiddie pool out incase she comes back, I am thinking of getting a couple chicks now as from what i have read they are great pets
