What sort of quail is this?

Just picked up this from a friend of a friend. His/her friend got eaten by rats last night and this one was next on the menu! He/she is currently in an indoor rabbit cage waiting till I can pick up some more from a breeder then they are going outside in a large run/hutch combo.

What breed of quail is he/he? Is it a boy or girl? And whats the colour called?

A male Manchurian Gold Coturnix/Japanese quail.
