What surprised you most

it surprises me how "On my mind" they are. I'll grocery shop and think, gee wonder if the girls would like this...or that? I'll be gardening and thinking, oooohhh those bugs would be great for the girls...etc.

I didn't realize I'd fall so hard for them. I tell people that having chickens gives you the most enthusiastic greeting you've ever had: the flapping, squaking flock running ang tumbling to get to you always warms my heart.

Their curiousity is a constant source of amusement and irritation.

As I type this I've got 2 sleeping chicks in the front of my robe. Their cute, snuggliness makes my heart melt.

How many diff. breeds there are....

I get my babies in 11 days! I can't wait for the snuggling part....and the peeping & pooping and dozing off and other cuteness.

I just hope they get here safely.....it's my first time with the wee ones.

1. That I talk to the girls like they understand me.
2. That I continue to get excited over getting the eggs - wondering what they've left me.
3. How addictive they are - I was only going to get 3.. I have 5 now and plan on adding at least 3 or 4 more.

The most surprising thing to me is that DH seems to have grown very fond of them too. He won't admit it, but it's pretty obvious.
