What temp is too cool for chicks

Is upper 40's too cold for chicks that mostly have their feathers with a little down on their necks and chest. They have a house to get into and 25 other buddies to snuggle up with.

Typically 40's is too cool....but with the warmth of others, they might be ok. Can you run a light out there for them? Maybe just for a little extra warmth?
