I just read this weekend a chicken book written by Stromberg on incubation suggesting lowering temperature down to 96-98 degree during lockdown which is tomorrow for me. There was a local chicken farmer told me sometimes back that he turns down to 98.5 during lockdown. Anybody doing this? I hatched twice before and didn't do this. Appreciate any suggestions.

Did you have a good hatch the last two times? If so, I wouldn't lower the temp. I sometimes lower the temp a degree or two after they hatch, but I never have at lockdown.

I didn't have good hatch the first time, 4 eggs didn't pip - die in their eggs. The second hatch was much better, all hatched except one. I opened that one and found the chick only half way developed. I think the better hatch second time purely due to learning curve. May be I will try lower the tempt just a bit at lock down and see what happen.
