What the heck are these ducks?

Came across these while I was hiking. What the heck are they? Obviously some kind of duck....

That is a Muscovy, and most likely a barred variant.

The barred color is not a color you see often in wild Muscovies so it seems likely someone dropped it off wherever you were hiking. That would explain it's hunched-over "not feeling well" look, and it's lack of fear towards humans.

Unless there is a whole flock of them, and a mother and father nearby, it may be good to take them in.
 
I thought about taking them; but we were about 3.5 miles from my car, I wouldn’t have been able to transport them. They were not afraid of me at all.

Since there is a good chance they are domestic, it may be good to contact a wildlife rehabber in your area, or call DNR, or animal control and notify them. Not only is there a high chance of them passing if they are domestic as they don't know how to properly forage for food, and fend off predators. If they do survive them may breed with other native species.
