Anyone ever seen this? Looks like rain drops in the loose dirt right outside the run, but it's not. It must be some kind of animal activity .

Looks like mice holes. Do you have a predator apron around the run?

They could be from a small rodent, but they look like ant lion pits (if that's the word you use ). They're a type of insect that eats ants that fall into their pits, harmless to your poultry.

Those are signs of insect activity. I am betting larval Ant Lions.


Here is a picture of mine where they do not have to crowd up to stay out of rain.

There are no ant lions in Vermont. I'm sticking with mice. Those holes look just like the holes outside our garage before we resheathed it to keep all sorts of varmints out. Snakes can burrow like that too.

Antlions are distributed worldwide---even in Vermont.
