So I have two coops one coop has three nestboxes. Two hens decided they want to go broody and have been sleeping in the boxes. No big deal they are being clean about it. Sucks though because that coop went from 10 eggs a day to 5? havnt figured that out yet.probably cause the boxes are occupied. The other coop everyone had been sleeping on the roosts. Tonight i went to lock up and all three gold sexlinks were sleeping in the boxes. I know one has been sleeping there for a few nights because i have to clean it in the morning. but it is just one big poo. now ive got 2 more sleeping in boxes i will have to clean in the morning. So I have 5 birds sleeping in boxes.

You could try closing the boxes up in the evening - a piece of cardboard to block them? Of course, you'll have to go out early in the AM and open the boxes up again. I'm not sure how else you can "reprogram" them to get back up on the roosts at night. Good luck!

yup the roosts are higher. I was going to put them on the roosts but it was cold so i let them be. If it happens again tomorrow though their little feathered behinds are going on the roost one way or another. Ive been pecked enough for today fighting with the broodies in the other coop.

For some reason that just made me laugh! I hope they behave themselves for you tomorrow!
