I haven't a lot of experience with this, but if none of them are being actually injured or prevented from accessing food and water I would not attempt to interfere with the developing pecking order because of human perceptions of "meanness".

Chickens know how to be chickens and to construct a stable chicken society better than I know how to be a chicken.
