What the &*%$#& is this rubbery intestine-like thing? (Photo)

We found this in the nesting box this morning. It looks traumatic, but no blood or anything. As I picked it up, it was spongy/rubbery. Is this intestines?


Gross and worrying. No explaination in my head, so what do you think?

All 4 birds seem to be moving around fine, but I think that one of them may have a somewhat wet behind.

It's just a strange egg thing, like how some hens will lay a tiny egg from time to time or a shell-less egg. Research 'lash'.

The only worry is that maybe I now have a lady who lunches,

But I've found a few threads that saw their hens continue to lay

I had one of my hens do this last year, but i only found the worm looking thing and not the big egg part and even worse it was haning out of the hen! I freaked! But i knew if anyone could help me it was the people on here. Its and egg with out a shell! It never has happend to any of my hens since.

NOW I can see that it is an egg without a shell!

It's an egg with a tail, of course. I've seen two or three over the last few years. Nothing to worry about.
