My roosters start crowing at 5:30 am. A month ago when it was lighter earlier as soon as I opened the door at 6:15 they were flooding out. It's a little darker now, I still open the door at 6;15 am, they don't come out til about 6:30.

No idea. I sleep in such crazy old lady patterns. To bed at 1 or 2 am. Up around 5am; to read or watch an old classic movie. Back to bed around 7am without even going to the back of the house to try to see the ChickArena at the end of the yard. Sleep til noon and then go out and play with the chickens. They start cluck, cluck, clucking to me the very minute they hear me open the door to the back yard. Their coop door is always open, so they come into the run whenever they want to in the morning and put themselves to bed at night. The run is predator proofed, so I can sleep as late as I want.
Just have two point-of-lay pullets. No roos. WAITING for the first egg. Both were hatched in late February, so it's got to be any day now. Right? I've been sprinkling protein powder (from the health food store) in their yogurt every few days; also some sprinkled into their layer food. Trying to jump start their laying. The Black Marans' comb and wattles are a nice rich red now and are considerably larger than last month. But the Auracana's tiny peacomb is still barely there and is only a pale coral pink. But she's got a nice big body and beautiful white feathers and eats and drinks well. They're both lively and bright eyed. I can't wait for that first egg already!!!!!

Yep I have to be really really quick with the door if I am late getting out to the hen house, and by late I am talkng 6am this time of year. If I'm not quick I get a face full of feathers dust and shavings. Not too pleasant at 6am. I tell them to stay put till I can get out of there and close the door.

I'm not sure what time they get up- we don't lock any in, so don't have to go let them out. Everyday when I get up---- they are already up- beds made, ate breakfast & having there morning scrath clutch talks about all the goosip around the farm!

Ernie got up at about 6:30 this morning. This was our first morning with her, so I'm not sure if that's her "regular" time or not.

My chickens get up at daylight, but they are locked in so they have to stay in their coop until I let them out. When I go out at 6:30 or 7 a.m. they are standing in front of the pop door. I have to open it from inside, which is a good thing. I am careful not to step on any toes on my way to the pop door (31 chickens have a lot of toes). When I open it they run out and flap their wings like crazy chickens. My rooster jumps up on the log I put in their run, ruffles his feathers, flaps his wings, and crows.

What a great start for my day!

My Chickens are up by 6:30. I don't let them out until 8:30. Once school starts that wil change to like 6:00. They are all standing at the door waiting for me like starving animals! YOu would think they didn't get fed!
