what time do your chicks go into their coops

Right now we aren't consistent. Usually a couple hours before dark I close them in their run (about 6 right now) and then shut windows and pop door at dark. We have seen coyotes around before dark so I don't want anyone out at dusk.

Mine go in right as it's getting dusk (so the times change as the days get longer) although the GLW stays out the longest. They are usually up and snoring/purring and all snuggled in by dark.

My ladies put themselves to bed every night at the same time...6pm. I don't always make it out at that time..but it does not matter...I recently had surgery and had to spend a night in the hospital..so my husband had to put them in...he went out at 5pm..and they would not go in. He called me at the hospital in a panic because the ladies were not behaving..I told him to wait until 6..sure enough at 6 he walked them in the coop and to bed they went. Funny they are such creatures of habit!

The older hens head for the coop between 3-4pm no matter the time of year. They are early risers

The younger generation stay up till almost sundown.
