Is there a time of day that chickens lay their eggs? How do you know when to put them into a tractor to move around the yard? Or do you always have to have nest boxes in the tractor.
No, there is no specific time of day. Although, it is a general rule of thumb that it will be 24 hours, give or take , from the time they last laid one.
It would be a good idea to keep a nest box in the tractor.
It generally takes about 26 hours to "build" an egg. Therefore, the hen will lay the next egg about 2 hours later in the day, the following day. (If she's a daily layer.) The next one will be an hour or two later the NEXT day, and so on, until it's too late for her to lay that day. Then she'll start over again, or skip a day or so.
