What tips can you give me inorder to have a successful raising chicks?

I am new to raising baby chicks and I want to know your secrets in raising them better....I know all you has different styles but I want to know your opinion about this. Maybe I will follow the most requested secrets in raising chicks...I am new to this that is why I want my first try be a successful one...Any suggestion is highly appreciated...

Let the mess happen. Clean once they are outside for good. If you obsess about the dust and shavings you won't enjoy them as much

i tend to think in "what would mama do?" terms. if a broody hen had them, they would be eating bugs, and grit and things from the first day. she wouldn't be feeding them medicated food (if they're not sick why give medicine?). she would be keeping them warm and dry, teaching them to scratch and play in the dirt and being,,,,well,,,,,chickens!
