What to Bring to a Chicken Show?

It is a requirement of most shows here in the northwest that birds have legbands. The numbered bands are for identification purposes to ensure that the right bird goes home with the right person. Sometimes they can get mixed up.

Ok, we don't have that requirement back East; just the NPIP blood test bands. Of course, those can be utilized for id as well. Do your States in the Northwest not require NPIP for bio-security?

So a wing band will be ok to use? I already have one on my roo but my hen only has her temp spiral band so the breeder could tell which breeder pen she came from. Mine are serama so i know they will be easy to tell apart lol, 2 random colors.

Really really informative! Thanks folks. I was thinking of entering some birds next year in a local show. Maybe 3 ( I only have cages! ) Now I know what you need ( a lot of stuff! Most of this stuff is around the house somewhere! ) Thanks folks. !

I'm going to my first chicken show this weekend and I'm wondering what grooming tools I need to bring for last minute touch-ups. There was something you could put on their combs/wattles to make them look redder but I can't remember what. So what do I need to bring to the show? Thanks!

Olive oil or Vitamin E oils makes their combs redder almost immediately. I like to bring baby wipes, paper towels and a panty hose for touch ups.I know the pantyhose sounds crazy but it actually make the chicken look a lot shinier.
