what to change feed to?

My chicks are almost 8 weeks old and have just about finished their chick starter. What food do I switch them to next? Do I go right to layer and to growth? They are 3 buff orpingtons, a Wyandotte, a Production Red and an Americuana Roo.

You don't start the layer feed until they start laying. Some continue to feed starter for quite a while. I moved mine to broiler feed when they were six weeks old, and they did fine. I feed local organic feed, which only comes in 50 pound bags, so I didn't want to buy another 50 pounds of starter.
