What to clean new duckling with......?

Here is the problem. I had an egg too dry for the duckling to hatch it self so I helped it out of the shell. I was not able to get all the slim off the duck in fear of stressing him out. Now that he is a few days old all of the top of his head is dried up and crusted.

How do I get this off....warm water...?

This is my first hatching so I am looking for some knowledge.

Wait for a bit. I don't know about ducks, but i know that sticky chicken chicks will shed the stuff after a week or so.

If you do not want to wait or it is real bad, a rag with warm water will take care of it.

It has one of it's eyes partially shut. Just really don't know what to do and not stress him out anymore then I have too.
