What to do about a Mountain Lion? Any advice?

I live in a small city area, I doubt I will ever come across a mountain lion. However, if one was in my back yard it would have to go! If it would kill a horse it would kill a child or adult. I would not go out hunting one for the sport - live and let live. But - if it's by farms or homes it would have to go.

Thank you everyone for your help. I think I have got as much information as I need. i have no intention of shooting it unless it causes a problem. I understand everyones opinions and appreciate there help. If it causes a problem it will have to go. I to agree with Gods creation and do not wish to harm it.
