I posted about this a while ago and got mixed responses. Some people said i had a pullet with hormone problems, others said i had a cockerel in hiding.

Well i believe my pullet is in fact a pullet. She is a seven month old pekin bantam.

My cockerel, who was raised with her, tries his best to mate her but she pecks him until he gives up. She has never laid an egg and crows sometimes. It is a proper crow, only three syllables but with neck extension, and she does it a few times in a row some days but not every day. She has gone a couple of weeks without doing it and then starts again randomly.

Apart from these behaviours, she seems the picture of health. I understand it is probably an ovary or hormone problem, but is there anything i can do about it?

In other words, is there any way to treat this pullet ? Is it possible the problem will just fix itself with time? Could it get worse? Is there any hope for her to ever start laying?
Does anyone have experience of this?
Is there still a chance she is actually a he??

She could just be a dominant hen, they will take the role of a rooster usually when there isn't one around and it seems your hen doesn't see the rooster as a proper roo, and they will still lay eggs as they are still full hens.

How old is the pullet? As the age range between laying eggs can be 6 to 9 months and she could be a late bloomer... Though if past that age range, she could have a hormone problem and I don't really have any experience with that unfortunately and don't know if it can be treated. ^^;

I had a young pullet who was low in the pecking order crow at one point. Rooroo and his son, Peep-Peep were crowing, then when I finally quietened them down, the pullet on the chair did her attempt at crowing, though hasn't crowed since then.

Only time will tell.
Could be wonky ovary...could just be an oddity.
This late in year, short daylight duration, may slow her maturing into lay.

I had a hen(2yo) who crowed for a few months, she also helped 'herd' and 'guard' the flock with the cockbird, she was not laying at the time of these behaviors and stopped them when she came back into lay.
