Greetings,

My Indian runner sneakily laid a clutch of eggs, and has been sitting on them for about the last week or so. I went in and candled them the other day, and it looks as if they are all fertile. So I am wondering what to do after they hatch. Should I let them stay in the nest with mother, or should I remove them to a brooder? If I let them stay with mother, how do I feed them. Mother needs her food, and the ducklings need duck starter.

Please help! Thanks!

For my broodies, I let the mother raise them after hatch, given that she is being a good mother. I keep them a secure pen so the babies can't get out, and predators and drakes can't get in. Provide a small feed and water dish, so the babies can't drown, the mother can eat the duckling starter. Do all of that and your set!

Best of luck with her hatch! :fl
