The neighbor cat came down the hill for an afternoon snack on Saturday and tried to haul away one of our 6 week old chicks. We rescued her, she had a puncture wound in her cheek, and one leg is not working. She holds it up and the toes curl under.
Her cheek has healed now, and she has begun stretching her toes, but still doesn't put any pressure on her leg. There is no visible swelling.
I wouldn't know where to splint, or even if we should. My question is this.
She and 3 others were sharing a large rabbit cage outdoors. Since her attack, we have brought her in and kept her warm in a separate cage, although during the day we place her cage next to the other one so they can visit. Would she be okay sharing the cage with the other chicks (2 pullets, one cockerel... they were supposed to all be hens...) or should we keep her separated, and if so, for how long?
Thanks!
