I have a hen, probably about two and a half yrs old, who seems to have an impacted crop (crop is hard). I have massaged it, but what else can I do for her? Is there something I can give to help her digest what’s in there? I have Acidified Copper Sulfate here from over a year ago, but I never used it. Is that something that I can give to aid this issue? Also, should I bring her inside or is she okay where she is with the flock? I’m in PA, so it’s cold outside. Will she be able to handle both the cold temps and this ailment? I don’t know how to proceed. She seemed to be acting okay when I went out to check them and change their water. I only noticed this condition when I picked her up to put some bag balm on her comb. Her crop felt like a hard ball, so I massaged it for quite a while. Since I did that and placed her down, she’s now acting like something’s wrong, standing in one place, stretching her neck (adjusting her crop I assume), and puffing herself up. What should I do… maybe wait and check her tomorrow? Or do something now? She’s a sweet girl and I’m worried.
