What to do for oncoming flash flooding?

Better bored than drowning, or floating away.

As my coop and run border a creek as well, I've had quite a few nightmares of a flood coming through, picking up the coop, and the coop with chickens floating downstream, the S.S. Eggs-Ahoy!

We ordered the largest dog crate we could find from Petsmart and are picking it up in the morning. I think we'll stick 'em in our spare bathroom. We're also going to fill the tub in there to refill their water with. I'm concerned about them getting bored/restless; it's supposed to be 3 solid days of rain.

Sounds like you have the plan for chickens , hoping not to much water damage in your area 20" is a lot of water.

Everyone around here is definitely nervous, but Louisiana is a resilient little state. As long as we have booze and gumbo, we're good.

If you have an old broom, you could place it on one side of the crate and have the handle run all the way through so that they can roost at night. You may need to zip tie the handle so it stays in place.
