I have 86 5 week olds, 25 of which are Dark Cornish the rest are Cubalayas.
2 of the DCs' are obviously runts. Smaller than the smallest Cuba. They compare to a 2 week old DC. and not really feathering out at the same rate as the rest.
It may sound cold, but I don't see the point in raising them any further.
My neighbor has a flock of mixed Bantam and would like to take them but I don't feel that that would be in anyones best interest.
They are active and otherwise healthy but really, really not growing and, I think they are roos since they have the same patterns as the bigger roos. I do not think the genetics would benefit her flock.
I know nothing of Bantams and for all I know that is how Bantams came to be and I have it all wrong, but my gut tells my they are defective.
So, I am leaning toward culling. If I decide to cull, what would be the best method for such a small bird? I don't think I am up for head snipping but any other ideas would be considered.
Or should I let my neighbor have them? Once she has them, culling will be off the table and she will jump through hoops and spend lots of money (that she can not spare) to accommodate them.
Thank you
