Just posting so others might find this and not get attached to there runt and not be surprised if they have a bad outcome.
We had "runt" in our most recent batch of chicks. She looked 2 days old for weeks and had frequent pasty butt. She got very lethargic at around 3 weeks old, and I did chick ICU for her with special care. Then she perked up and became the most aggressive feeder, super active and lively hen for several months. She was pretty late to lay at 6 months old for a white leghorn. Then abruptly, developed diarrhea, lethargy, abdominal swelling and died the same day. I'm thinking a metabolic issue?
