What to do with a cracked fertile egg?? THIS IS AN EMERGENCY!!

I have a cracked silkie egg that my chicken kicked out of the nest. The crack is pretty small and there is no egg yolk coming out. It is on the top of the egg, and it looks like a spider web. It is also a little caved in, and looks like a chicken pecked it. It is cold, and I'm not sure how long it has been out of the nest. Today is day 7. We candled the egg and there was a small black dot inside it, but it wouldn't move unless I wiggled it a little bit. There is also a "shadow" around half of the egg. I don't know what do with it! I'm worried it might die if I don't get it under heat soon. Mama hen also kicked it out of the nest this morning as well, so I put it back under her. Is it dead? What should I do with it? This is the 3rd egg Mama hen has cracked! And I would like to save it if I can. Should I put it back under her? Somebody said to put nail polish over the crack, but it might give me a retarded chicken! True?

Thanks!

I had three eggs like that from when I dropped the thermostat on them. I used super glue to cover the cracks. Two did not make it, one hatched, but was a runt (who eventually grew up fine, just took longer to feather out).

I doubt cracking the shell hurt the chick directly. It will probably continue to develop, but the chances of it quitting do to bacteria or internal humidity issues is probably higher. I would treat it the same as the other eggs, not tossing it unless you are sure it is a quitter.
