What to do with an accidental rooster?

It looks like I might have to get rid of the rooster. My neighbors haven't complained yet but for me, the crowing is already becoming a nuisance. It keeps crowing around late 7 am to 9 am. Not sure about the fall but will probably be around 5-6/7 am. Anyways, looks like a rooster dinner is coming! :lau

You can make your own collar for under $5 until you can get the real one. Mine start between 4:30-5:30. I can hear them if I'm really listening, but they don't wake me up anymore. I tend to hear them if it's like 3 am, which did happen once and I believe there was most likely a predator lurking. It stopped once I went out and checked things out. I've learned there is a reason for the crowing, you just have to know your rooster.

I haven’t owned a rooster in 3-4 years, my first one, I had to butcher it becuase it was a noise complaint. I live in an urban residential neighborhood although I’m more close to farm lands then the city. This year I bought 4 chicks from the same hatchery I got my rooster at years ago. 3/4 of it were hens and as of now as I’m typing this, I’m awoke from the one rooster crowing. Not sure if it’s an Ameraucana or Easter Egger but looks like an EE. Also got another one the same and the other were silver laced Wyandotte and an unknown breed. So the hatchery charged me extra for the rooster and that unknown breed that I told them I wanted an Amber White (definitely does not look like one). But that’s not the point, the point is I do not want to have to kill a rooster again if I had to kill a rooster then it feels like I’ll have to kill a living human. Nobody is wanting a rooster in my state so there’s no point in selling or giving away. He’s only about 3 months old so a youngin’. Does anyone currently own a rooster in such urban, residential area? Are there any information you would like? I went online and I found the rooster collar but I have heard many deaths involving this so I’m not sure if I should approach the collar option, thoughts? My last rooster crowed at around 5-6am. Since is summer now, this one crows, said in the title, at 7am although I woke up at around 7:45am so a little later (all times are in mountain standard time).

You can neuter it at your local vet but it will looses its protective features and just become a male hen ya know

Even if the hatchery said that they won't have a trade for the mistaken rooster, should I go online an order a large No Crow Rooster Collar?
I have seen some people use the no bark collars for tiny size dogs and supposedly they work really well. I saw somebody on this site talking about it once before, but you will have to find the thread.

I remember that thread, they got slammed and disappeared....
.....so we never got to find out if it worked.
Have you seen it elsewhere @SurferchickinSB ?

No, I have not seen it anywhere else, but I have kept that in mind in case I ever get a rooster. I guess I am just lucky because out of 10 of my chickens I’ve only had girls. I told myself to stop before my luck runs out.

It happened to me only my Cockerel was 6 mo a white Brahma, actually a giant Brahma. I was able to trade my big "he" for a little "she" at a local rescue farm. I was upset and attached to Noodle I guess I was in denial because he never crowed, he was just really big and aggressive. The knowledgeable folks here on this site helped me determine his sex. Good Luck to you.

I am going back to the hatchery. Here is a picture for the breeds. They got the silver laced wyandotte and Easter Egger hens correct but the other 2 was a mistake. Have you’ve ever experienced this before like expecting a hen but it’s a rooster?
I don't see any roosters in that picture. If you zoom in, you will see there are no points on those feathers around the neck at all. I have those chickens, and I know a rooster when I see one. I have 10 altogether, finding homes for 6. Please don't let that red fool you. I have girls with it. Enjoy your birds.
