What to do with an unsupportive husband... chicken tractor plans

Same with me Terrie...if it's construction, I'm doing it...DH comes from a long line of supervisors...
Ann, I love your Garden of Eden. LOL
I lost Obelisk tonight...GD dog got in and the last thing I saw was her flying, yes FLYING down the street. DH drove me around the neighbourhood with me yelling her name and rattling the food dish. I

him for that even if he doesn't like my birds at all.

But Obelisk is back now, I just read on another thread. Yay!
I thought I had said enough here, but I have to say that terrielacy put it better and more succinctly than I. That's what I meant to say!

My husband just drew the line. No more animals for me. I'll be "allowed" some more when we move and get more land (we only have a little over 3 acres now, we want at least 15 acres next time). Right now I have 24 chickens, 6 cats, 1 dog and a cockateil. Not a lot of animals if you ask me.

Luckily, my DH was very supportive about my chickens. He built my hen house, in fact he built it in a total of 3 days!! He loves eggs...I mean he LOVES eggs. He can't wait for them to start laying.

Uncooperative husband is coming around!!!

I slipped a little question in about what I would do with my chickens in the winter after having been in the chicken tractor for the summer and fall. I was going to ask my dear hubby for a small corner of the barn. Before I could say more, he said, "I'm thinking that the last stall in the barn could be made into a coop." The last stall is a 10' by 10' stall! I'm so excited! I found barn plans for 10'x10' chicken stalls on the internet and will show them to hubby. I said maybe six or eight chickens would be fine. He said that was a good number to start with!

Can you believe I followed this with questions about the sheep I want. He answered that he'd have to get the pastures divided to do that and that evening he checked on the two little sheep at my friends' that I like. All went smoothly! And now my eggs are moving on day 18! Excitement City here! Ann

WELL, DH did not want dogs or cats...so I respected that.

I have wanted chickens since I was a kid. I kept throwing the idea around. One day, I ordered them and said "By the way, I have chicks coming next week."

No, he hasn't always been happy with them. He still grumbles sometimes, but he says that I like them, they make me happy and the kids adore them so there's not a ton he can say. He wouldn't have his feelings hurt if we got rid of them, though.

Too bad for him, that's never going to happen!

Now, he has since told me, no ducks, no turkeys, no goats, etc., etc. and I have respected that b/c I don't want any of them worth fighting over.

I, also, along with my dad, do all of the building and construction for the chickens so it was never an issue as far as my husband goes. The tools in this house are MY tools and I would be the one getting persnickety if he asked to use them.
