Well As i stated a few days ago - Goonie has finally found out he is a boy!

But now I have a problem. Huge 8 - 10 lb goonie has decided that his new favorite girl is my cayuga cross catfish - who weighs maybe 4 lbs. His belly covers her entire body. I caught him on her today when i heard her screaming. She was in the mud hole which is now filled with water - with goon mounted.

She has an egg belly but isnt laying yet. Im worried about her getting hurt . Goonie has three mature scovie girls of his own - whom he follows around like a lost puppy.

Should I seperate my scovies from my non scovies and risk the heart break of seperation? Or just let them be? SHe isnt limping or anything and Im not too worried about having scovie crosses since i know people that will buy them since they dont want ducklings. Im just worried about my little Hen.

Any advice?

Here are the love birds. Goonie might be a little bigger now than in the picture - it was taken early January

Here is Sidney next to Nibbles...you can see the obvious size difference, lol. I think as long as he's not hurting her they should be fine, I've never had any problems with my big guys and small girls...and actually recently Sid has had the hotts for Zima who is MUCH smaller...probably the size of your mixed duck.

What I find hilarious is that the three girls are like peas in a pod, and Just leave him with the rest of the flock, so i think thats why he has become attached to the non scovie gals.

We've had a Pekin male who had a Khaki Campbell girl. Oddly, this girl was in better shape than the Khaki girl who had a Khaki guy!
