What to do with grit??

I'm sorry if this has been asked before..

What do you do with the grit? Mix it in with the chick starter feed? Put it in a separate dish? And do they need grit from day 1?

You need chick grit for chicks, they only need it if you feed them anything other that chick feed, and I would offer it in a seperate dish..
