Yes!I would check at feed stores as soon as possible.I prefer probiotics.

I think that troy4 is referring to electrolytes and probiotics. Have you been putting these in their water?

This is the best shot I could get of the brooder. It's 2'x1'x1.5' high, which I thought would be ok for three chicks? Temp reads 90. Baby chick is a week and change, got it last Friday with a few wing little feathers. I've started them all on DE (as of #1's decline since she'd been with a broody hen), as well as Braggs ACV and Probios brand probiotics (as of #2's decline). Called the feed store and verified that I'm feeding the right starter. I the guinea pigs...yes, they're in close proximity but do not have any contact. It occurred to me that musty hay might have something to do with it so I tossed the stuff I had and got new hay for the piggies. The pullets and the babies have never been in contact and we try to wash hands but there may be a margin of user error there.

Ok, brooder looks fine. As they grow, you'll want to make sure that they each have 2 square feet of space, though. I'm thinking that those chicks just weren't meant to survive. I would get some more ASAP before your current chick gets too old and I would just keep doing everything that you're doing!

Thanks for the feedback! As a newbie, it's so helpful to have extra eyes on our situation. Just located some week old chicks that I can get tomorrow...hang in there baby, your friends are on their way! With the older three, I eventually moved them to a larger, deeper, room temp set-up, which is working out well and will become available before this one / these ones need it. So far I think the moral of this story is to start with more chickens than you think you want!

Definitely! I started with 7 chicks this year and I'm now down to 5.. With only 3 hens. It sounds like you have a good plan! Good luck with the new chicks! Just ask if you have any more questions!
