Hi so I'm new here and been pretty busy with my new adopted flock of 6 chickens, so hens and 4 ducks that it turns out 3 are drake. So Jack and Diana are m6 two buff Orrington (?) and the there's O'Malley and who I thought Aggie ( Agatha) turns out I'm pretty sure she's not a she. So I have changed the coop and yard layout to where each pair has separate sleeping areas so they are not on Diane as well as getting after each other. Also both have exits to separate yards and we swap days of who gets to free run during the day. I'm concerned about if I should be even trying to keep all of them or what I should do. O'Malley is a mallard and aggie is a magpie duck I'm told. VideoCapture_20240828-093813.jpg

Sorry you have had bad luck with the sex ratio of your ducks. It frequently happens with straight run ducklings from a feed store.

It's important to keep the drakes separate from your chickens once your drakes reach sexual maturity.

It's possible to keep an all drake flock (my own flock is all drake.) They are squabbly during their spring hormone surge, but this fades over the summer and I don't have any issues in the fall and winter.

It's best to have at least 3 female ducks for every drake in mixed flocks. Andso you need at least two more females to join the female drake pair.

It's quite hard to rehome drakes, but not impossible. PlIf youcdecide to rehome two or more drakes, put the word out through your social networs, advertise on social media including your State thread on
BYC, and inquire if your chapter of the Humane Society or your branch of the ASPCA can arrange adoptions
