Just looking for opinions. We just candled eggs under our first broody and think 5/8 eggs look ok. Do I remove the three that are not good or just let it be? She is on day 10 and is a diehard broody. 😂. Thank you.

I vote to remove them. Reasoning: fewer eggs that can break and make mess. Viable will eggs get more attention.
Thank you- I was wondering if she needed a certain amount in there, but I don't want to risk one exploding. I already had a massive poop situation I had to deal with - she would not get off the nest on her own!!

I would remove them too, but only once you are 100% sure they are not viable.
Maybe you could show us a photo of the questionable eggs?
Unfortunately I didn't get great pictures, but two seemed to have obvious bloodlines. One I am not sure about, but it looked totally empty so maybe unfertilized? I am worried about them exploding if I leave them.... Thank you for the offer to look at pictures. I appreciate it. This is my first time doing this!

I never candle eggs under a broody but some people do.

If you think they are not good, leave them. If you are sure they are not good, remove them.
I wasn't sure what to do, but I thought it might be a good learning experience for the kids! I am not totally sure-just worried about an explosion happening- but nothing smelled? Saw what looked like two bloodlines and one looked plain old empty.... since is this my first time, not totally sure. The other eggs where tricky to candle because they are marans and aracaunas. I hope something hatches!

At ten days, an egg should not be clear.
As long as you have checked that egg is definitely clear, that one can be tossed.
The ones with bloodlines....any chance you could get a photo?
Just wanting to make sure none are being tossed that don't need to.
