What to do with quail?

Quote:
I take it but would rather take a check. I don't ask the buyer to make it up though I just chalk it up to the price of doing business. But with it being free eggs I can see not wanting to give away money also.

ya might wanna watch feeding the eggs to your chickens....today you're laughing as they try to break the shell of a tiny quail egg, but tomorrow ya might end up more than a little angry when they figure out their own eggs are easier to break open and eat!

That is what I was thinking.

I went through this last year when i feed some old chicken eggs back to the chickens. I started having egg eating problems. For some reason, as long as I break up most of the quail eggs they leave their own eggs alone. I don't know if it is because the size difference or color difference but this year I haven't had an issue.

Maybe I could get a government grant for millions of dollars to do a study on the subject? Where is that goofy guy with the dollar signs all over his suite when ya need him?

See, I told you that would happen. Once I started collecting eggs for you guys and gals someone wants my birds. Timing has never been my thing.

Thanks Amy, (Destiny_56085) for spreading the word. I think my future poultry endeavors will be run by Amy to see what she thinks of the idea

So, I will still have the quail for about a week. I will keep collecting eggs and store them properly till ready to ship.

The 4 people I plan to send eggs to are Kullas in GA, PeeWee in FL, JJMR794 in FL, and Becky3086 in GA. (there seems to be a theme here. If you two in GA and FL are close to the other I can ship just one box to each state and save yourselves a couple bucks.) I'll send out as many as possible to each.
PM me if this short timeframe doesn't work for you. I don't want to have a box of eggs sit there because you don't have room in the bator!

Since this is a short notice deal, I am going to trust you on paying me. I may have to get them out before anything on paypal clears. I will praise you if everything goes good

I am keeping my 14 "babies" that are not laying yet, but there are a couple that love to crow! And Some of the middle age stock for eggs (on a much smaller scale than a couple hundred a week).

I'll keep in touch.

Thanks

Sorry for giving out your phone number last night. I just happened to run into Thaly at work last night. I've been friends with her family for at least 10 years and I've never had a problem with them coming out to my farm. She has a huge Asian family over by Mountain Lake. She said she would give you a call....

Lol...I'm just a realist. I won't feed anything that costs more to raise than you get out of it. If you ever have more misc birds, let me know. I have the numbers for lots of Asian friends.

Since I had received the info from the GA people first, those eggs are going out today.

I'll have enough for the FL people in the next couple day so get the info to me as soon as you can.

This is my first time packing eggs so if there is a problem please PM me and explain what happened. They are tightly packed in multiple layers of bubble wrap and newspaper. No movement that I can feel

Also, everyone please let me know what the hatch rate is via PM. Everyone's getting some out of my proven once pens and some out of the slightly over ratio, hen dominated, rooster doing his best pens.

I didn't mark any of the eggs because all the older birds are getting sold later this week. So what do I care

That was the whole idea of getting the A&M's. "An XL bird, all white in color and meat". I call B.S. on this breed. Tastes like a tender chicken to me. Even the breast is dark, or at least not like a chicken or turkey.

If I have any eggs before the lady comes to get the birds I'll box them up for you if you want to compare for yourself. I have never had quail before, but it doesn't look like white meat to me

Nah, but thank you.

I'm not overly crazy with my A&Ms and I'm only using them to bump up the size of my jumbos. Hopefully the sweet jumbo temperament won't be effected by the spazzy whites.
