Okay I've most of a 50lb. starter/grower crumbles and I'm down to only one young oegb pullet (everyone else was a roo, how do I do this). I've only got a few more weeks before I switch her to layer. Can I give all my hens starter/grower along with calcium? Will that affect their laying? It's medicated, does that affect their eggs? I'm such a cheapskate and can't get new babies for at least a year. Help, please.

Yes, the medication can transfer to the eggs. But if you mix the Start & Grow with layer mash a little at a time, the amount should be minor. Basically you have these choices...
...Ask for a feed swap on Craigslist and BYC
...See if the feed store will make the swap
...Slowly add the Start & Grow to the layer feed

And here's my favorite... hatch another batch of babies!

Thanks. Um, actually we did go to the feed store to get bunny food and I made dh go with me to look at chicks, and we came home with 4 baby bobwhites and a 4 wk old ee. DH is more of a pushover than I am.
