Hi, I'm a novice chicken-keeper and we were given 5 chicks back in March. I know think that 2 are cockerals but we don't want to keep them as we want to eat the eggs the girls lay. The trouble is, what do I do with the boys?! Eating them ourselves is not an option. Has anyone else given them away to farms/zoos etc? I have no idea what to do with them so any ideas would be great. Many thanks.

There is no reason you can't eat the eggs if you have roosters. Most people can't even tell a fertile egg from a non fertile one. Put the roosters on Craigslist or something of the like. Roosters are sometimes hard to get rid of, but usually they go after awhile.

Yeah, there is no reason why you can't eat a fertilized egg. There really isn't a difference. And as Cindy said, just put the roosters on craigslist. I wouldn't ask a price since its hard enough to give them away. Here on the ranch, the best solution is a sharp axe.
